Accreditation as a Launching Pad for Improvement
The workshop will be a 90-minute webinar
that will explore such areas as:
- Why faculty members so often
resist becoming involved in
- How that resistance may be
- Why the concept of a Quality
Improvement Plan (QIP) is valuable
to the accreditation process.
- The topics for a QIP that are
most likely to receive strong
- How to align accreditation more
fully with strategic planning.
- The challenge of sustainability
and efficiency in higher education
today and how accreditation can best
address those challenges.
The webinar will mix presentation of
material with exercises, including
discussions (conducted through chat box
text), development of a suitable topic for a
QIP, and short case study analyses.
Dr.Jeffrey L. Buller.
Dr.Jeffrey L. Buller is a senior partner in ATLAS:
Academic Training, Leadership, and Assessment Services who has conducted
more than a thousand workshops worldwide on such topics as academic
leadership, accreditation, and evaluation. Well more than one hundred of
these workshops were conducted during his thirty-three visits to the Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia. He holds a doctorate from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison and is the author of over twenty books on academic
leadership, a monograph on German opera, a textbook for first-year college
students, several novels, and more than two hundred articles, essays, and
reviews. In addition to conducting leadership-training workshops all over
the world, he has served as a consultant to the Ministry of Higher Education
in Saudi Arabia while it was operating its Academic Leadership Center.
